Spooky Food for Halloween

Spider Web Cookies

Ingredients:

½ cup sugar
¾ cup all purpose flour
¼ cup milk
¼ cup olive oil
2 large eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar

Method:

Combine eggs, milk, sugar, flour, vanilla and olive oil in a mixing bowl and beat until the batter is smooth

Pour batter into a clean squeeze bottle, or use a cake decorating bag.

Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.

Quickly squeeze the batter into the pan in the shape of a spider web.

Cook 20 to 45 seconds or until the web turns brown.

Turn carefully.

Cook until both sides are golden, remove from frying pan and let cool.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Makes approximately 2 dozen spider web cookies.

Frozen Jack-o-Lanterns

Ingredients:

12 cinnamon sticks
½ gallon of chocolate ice cream
12 large oranges – navels work best

Method:
Cut off the top of the oranges one inch from the top and lay aside to use later.

Hollow out the bottom of the oranges, reserving the pulp and leaving a thick shell.

Cut the face of the Jack-o-Lantern into each of the oranges.

Put ice cream into the shell where the pulp has been removed.

Cut a hole in the center of the orange top.

Set the tops on the oranges.

Insert a cinnamon stick into the hole to act as the stem.

Place in the freezer for at least 4 hours.

Makes 12 Halloween treats.

Bloody Bug Punch

Ingredients:

6 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate
3 cups frozen strawberries
1 quart Sprite
1 cup blueberries
½ cup dark raisins
½ cup golden raisins

Method:

Put strawberries in a large mixing bowl and mash with a potato masher.

In a punch bowl, mix the mashed strawberries, the lemonade and the Sprite.

Add the blueberries and raisins.

When you serve the punch, be sure that each guest gets raisins and blueberries in their glass of punch.

If desired, hang candy worms over the rim of the glass.

Pumpkin Ice Cream

Ingredients:

¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 – 16 ounce can of precooked pumpkin
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup milk
2 cups whipped topping of your choice.

Method:

Combine and mix ingredients.

Place in a freezer safe container.

Freeze for 4 hours and serve.

Sugar Skulls

Ingredients:

1 pound of powdered sugar.
3 egg whites, slightly beaten.

Method:

Combine powdered sugar and egg whites and blend until they make a paste.

Make skulls out of the paste.

Place on a cookie sheet and decorate using candies, icing and sprinkles.
